Apartment Living for Seniors
This program provides self contained apartment accommodation to low and moderate-income seniors who are functionally independent with or without the assistance of existing community based services.
The Province of Alberta owns the apartments under this program, and any operating deficits are fully funded by the province through an annual budget review process. Management and tenant selection are the responsibility of our Foundation.
The operation of these apartments is subject to the Residential Tenancies Act of Alberta and the regulations thereto.
Rent
A tenant's rent, which includes heat, water and sewer expenses, is based on 30 percent of a household's adjusted income, subject to building's maximum rent. The tenant is responsible for electricity, telephone and cable television, as well as any additional services they may request such as parking.
Eligibility
Senior citizens whose income falls below local limits (CNITs) and who are functionally independent, with or without the help of existing community based services are eligible. Applicants are priorized based on need, those greatest in need being placed in a housing unit first.
